ファイナンシャルタイムズに各国の労働時間比較が載っていました。上から順に見ていきましょう。
中国
これを見ると、中国の労働時間が飛び抜けてますね。豊かになろうとする意欲がめちゃくちゃ強いいってことでしょうか？
韓国
韓国の2000年代初頭の労働時間やばいですね。そこからすごい勢いで減少してます。何か労働に対する対策が国として行われたのでしょうか。
米国
横ばいですね。時代にかかわらず、平均的にかなり働く国なのでしょうね。アメリカ人は働かないとか言ってた人は出てきて欲しいです。
日本
労働時間が緩やかに減少していますね。祝日が増えた影響や過重労働や残業に対する意識が高まってきたからでしょうか。直近だともっと減ってそうですよね。
英国
直近の日本よりも若干少なく、ずっと横ばいな感じです。確かにイギリスにいてそんなに働くことに対してあまり重きを置いてないように見えます。
ドイツ
めちゃくちゃ少ないですね。これでGDPも高いんだから最強ってこと？
番外編 インド
ここには載ってないですけど、インドも相当働いてそうなイメージです。今から豊かになっていく段階だし、働けば働くほど生活が良くなっていくのだから、どんどん働いちゃいますよね。
The more you work, the more money you make?
The Financial Times has published a comparison of working hours in different countries. Let’s look at them from the top.
China.
This shows that China’s working hours are off the charts. Does this mean that the drive to get rich is extremely strong?
South Korea.
South Korea’s working hours in the early 2000s were terrible. It has been decreasing at a great rate since then. Has the country taken any measures to address labour?
United States.
It has remained flat. I guess we are a country that works quite a lot on average, regardless of the times. I wish people would come out and say that Americans don’t work.
Japan.
I see a gradual decrease in working hours. Is this because of the impact of increased public holidays and a growing awareness of overwork and overtime? Most recently, it seems to have decreased even more.
UK.
It’s slightly less than in Japan at the most recent time and seems to be much more flat. It certainly doesn’t seem like there is much emphasis on working that much in the UK.
Germany.
It’s so much less. This is the highest GDP in the world, so does that mean it’s the strongest?
Extras India.
It’s not listed here, but I have the image that India seems to work a lot too. It’s at the stage where it’s getting richer and richer, and the more you work, the better your life gets, so you work more and more.
