先日、友人が遊びに来ていて、一緒にパブに入りフィッシュ&チップスを食べました。パブには老若男女がおり、日本の居酒屋とファミレスを合体させたような年齢層の幅広さでした。
そこで話になったのは、何のためにパブに人は集まるのか。居酒屋に集まるのか。ファミレスに集まるのか。についての論考でした。
おいしいものを食べに来ているわけではない。
安いから来ているわけではない。
ただ、場を共有しに来ているだけなのだろうと。
テクノロジーが発達し、コロナでリモートでのやりとりが発達し、人々は少しずつコミュニティーをなくしているのだと思います。そんな中で必要なのは、気の合う人と時間を共有する居場所。それが1番、求められていることなのだろうなと思います。
今、私が学校に来ているのも、何かしらの志を持った多国籍の人同士の交流をするための居場所を求めてやってきているわけです。そしてそれが今は心地いい。
会社も今後ますます、気の合うもの同士のコミュニティーとしての要素が求められるのだろうなと思います。何のためにそこで働いているのか、何を目指しているのか、信頼に足る人が周りにいるのか。
そういう意味では、自分の成長に合わせて感じることや、気の合う人は変わるわけですから、どんどん職場を変えていくというのが健全な発想のような気がします。
そして、状況に応じて再び学校に行くと言うのもまた、より一般的な生き方になると思います。
全ては居場所選び。そんなことを、フィッシュ&チップスを食べながら考えた次第です。
All for the provision of a place to stay.
The other day, a friend visited, and we went to the pub together for fish and chips. There were men and women of all ages in the pub, and the range of ages was like a combination of a Japanese izakaya and a family restaurant.
So the conversation turned to: what do people gather in pubs for? Do they pick in izakaya? Do they gather in family restaurants? The discussion was about.
They don’t come for good food.
They do not come for cheap food.
They just come to share a place.
With technology development and remote interaction in Corona, people gradually lose their community. What is needed in such a situation is a place to share time with like-minded people. I believe that is what is most needed.
The reason I am coming to school now is because I am looking for a place where I can interact with people from different countries who have some ambition. And that’s what I’m comfortable with now.
Companies will also increasingly need to be a community of like-minded people. What is the purpose of working there, what are you aiming for, and are there trustworthy people around you?
In that sense, it’s a healthy idea to keep changing workplaces as you go along because what you feel and who you are comfortable with will change as you grow.
And going back to school again, depending on the situation, would also be a more common way of life.
All in all, choose where you want to be. That’s what I thought about while eating my fish and chips.
